The new advert, called “Wall Hugger”, shown below, aims a dig at the iPhone’s battery life while promoting the Samsung Galaxy S5’s Ultra Power Saving Mode and removable battery. The ad depicts sad iPhone users sitting along walls in an airport as they charge their iOS devices, looking enviously at those wielding Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone.
“Don’t be a wall hugger,” one Galaxy S5 user says in the advert, borrowing a remark from Blackberry CEO John Chen, who back in March also blasted iPhone users as wall huggers.
Samsung isn’t new to the ‘dissing the competition’ space but it’s getting more daring with every new commercial. Due to the cut-throat competition in the industry, most selling points are usually feature centred. A purchase decision for this category is always made post an elaborate comparative analysis amongst various phones. Samsung decided to take matters in their own hands and make the comparison themselves.
